The Protein Plate

In my role as a product designer, I discovered a huge trend in the meal prep market. I created a to-go meal prep service app and branding with an athletic target market.

The vision, challenge and the solution.

According to arstechnica 90% of the US has a poor diet. I set out to find why this is. I found it's because people don't know what to eat, people don't like cooking, and people just love the connivence of fast food.

The Protein Plate solves this problem by creating a meal prep service to-go model that allows customers to order their meals on the app and pick them up in person.

The goal of the app is to get the diet of a pro athlete and get it to a lower financial class of people.

Under standing the market.

To kick the project off I started niche down to a target audience and existing services on the market.

The target market is 30 - 50-year-olds who actively work out or a health lifestyle enthusiasts. I also did extensive research on who can even afford a meal prep service. I found the salary to be $80,000 and above to be comfortable for the prices.

I also did market research to develop a clear business model and to see how companies have already solved the majority of what I am doing.

Creating a flow better then air.

Creating user flows that are seamless is what I set out to do. Thinking about things my users would need to do is how I crafted the user flows. I iterated the user flows based on designer feed back as well as created a few new ones.

Turning dreams into reality.

Ease of use, luxury, and fitness were the words that went through my head when I was creating the final flows and visual style of the app.

After validating my wireframe prototype I started to brainstorm on my branding and art direction.

The logo has a strong and clean look for strength and modernism to represent my target audience's goals. Green was chosen because it's a common message of health.

Process to success.

Researching the market and audience helped to create a unique product of my own. Taking what works and leveraging it into your creation is the route I took.

What I learned.

Niche your market: Creating a niche and user personas helped me to craft an app that has the vision style and features my user would need.

Market research: Doing my research helped me set the ground for success in my product.
